1. How is it made?

Using an ancient recipe originating in Crete, Greece from the Minoan era, organic grape must is extracted from grapes, mixed with organic red wine vinegar and aged in oak barrels for six years.

2. Is it the same as Italian Balsamic Vinegar? Why is it sweet and not sour?

No, our sweet Mousto Balsamic is a specialty of the island of Crete, Greece. It has been sweetened naturally with the juice of the grapes themselves. We do not add any cane sugar, caramel or corn syrup.

3. Does it have any sulphites?

We do not add any sulphites in our products.

4. Why does the consistency of the product vary from batch to batch?

This is an organic and 100% natural product. Hence, every batch of organic grapes is different, which leads to slight variations in each batch of the Mousto Balsamic, especially since we do not add any fillers, binders or artificial sweeteners.

5. What is the difference between your Mousto Balsamic Vinegar and Honey Balsamic Vinegar?

The Mousto Balsamic Vinegar has been sweetened naturally with the juice of the grapes while the Honey Balsamic Vinegar has been sweetened naturally with honey. The Honey Balsamic Vinegar is more subtle in flavour as it is not as sweet as the Mousto Balsamic Vinegar.

6. Apart from salads, what else can I use it for?

You can marinade your meats, drizzle on top of ice-cream, fruits, especially berries, and even pop-corn!

Our ingredients are certified organic and locally sourced.	They source their ingredients from various different farms and cannot guarantee organic content.
We use only one variety of grapes – Romeiki grapes.	You do not know how many varieties of grapes are used and what their quality is prior to making the vinegar.

PACKING
Our product comes from a known source – everything done is on a family estate in Crete, Greece from picking the grapes to making the Mousto and bottling the final product. This ensures total control over the process and a high quality product.	Each step of the process takes place at different sites, different cities and different countries, which leads to problems with quality control.
